| WEATHER RADIOS alert you to threatening conditions | |||||||||||
|
Spring has finally arrived, and along with warmer weather and blooming flowers comes the threat of severe storms. Does your household know what to do when severe weather threatens? One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from severe weather is to have a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather alert radio in your home. Weather radios will alert you to thunderstorm and tornado warnings, along with other hazards, anytime day or night and can be programmed to receive information about your specific county. You can purchase weather radios at many electronics and other retail stores, as well as through online retailers. Prices vary depending on the model selected. While we can't recommend one brand over another, we do suggest that you look for receivers that carry the Public Alert logo. The Public Alert Standard was developed by the Consumer Electronics Association in conjunction with the National Weather Service. For more information about weather radios, visit noaa.gov.
